Even discounting may not resolve the current SM surplus. There are heavily discounted loans on Ablrate, which have taken weeks to move.
Confidence is low partly due to the recent spate of defaults. Consequently, many investors are lowering their exposure.

Just checked just now, apart from 2 loans (99.9% and 99.7%) everything is at 100% offer or above. Discounted loans will sell like hot cakes, as long as they are decent loans. I am confident I could liquidate on ABLrate very quickly if required, although I don't tend to sell loans.

"heavily discounted"? You mean like 99.2% or something?? I can't find any really (95% or less) heavily discounted loans, or I would probably buy some ..

There was a fair bit being bought and sold this morning but those loans don't have a queue currently. ISA transfers?

Agreed - even the least popular loans will sell very quickly with a few tenths of a percent discount. It's a dynamic market so it may look like things aren't moving but they are. Buying decent long dated amortising loans without a hefty premium is much more of a problem.

I successfully sniped £11 of one in the early hours (was all I had in cash otherwise may have been able to get more!). It's quite fun, like whack-a-mole. On a related note, I do keep much less cash on account everywhere since Collateral disappeared with mine and it seems it wasn't really in a client account all along. Means that one is handicapped in the markets where time is of the essence.

Reminds me, I must look at Unbolted allocations again to estimate the available cash on the platform,... probably £50-100k I guess?

I was confident too until I discovered that my offer of 99.2% for S*** L*** A*** was no longer attractive to investors for a while. It didn't sell like hot cakes! I had to tolerate the delay till it was purchased. MT recently acknowledged in another thread the confidence issue pointed out above. They also mention a change of focus, which is the sort of communication lenders need.

They weren't quick enough. It was a real pain trying to sell and re-buy all my loan parts within the IFISA before someone tried to sneak in and 'steal' them from me - it took me 4 hours to complete and I managed to transfer the majority of the several hundred separate loan parts I had - only lost out on about £150

The loans I bought didn't look like IFISA transfers as there were several of each type available at the same time. That wouldn't be a good strategy. I bought 'Wine' but others were available.

No problem with topping back up though, just buy as much Wigan as you can stand!
