Why the need for minimum it sold somebody obviously wanted it Seconded. I buy bits and pieces on behalf of my nephew. He doesn't earn £25 pm interest so the opportunity to pick up any small bits and pieces is appreciated. He doesn't know it but he's in for the long run and one day, hopefully, these small bits will add up to something. Fully agree. After all, 1p parts on SS seem to be incredibly popular don't they?

To put it in perspective, my weekly pocket money was 6d. A decent sized bar of chocolate was 6d but also smaller bars for 1d, 2d and 3d - around 1960 I guess No idea of the weight of the bubble gum in those days but according to www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=bubble%20gumone brand is selling at £64.30 per kg and the other £12.40 per kg !! And bootlaces and aniseed balls!!! Apparently you can buy a bulk pack of 400 black jacks now for rrp £14.50 = 3.625p each = about eightpence three farthings each; scandalous. Also available on line at £9.99 = 2.4925p (6d) each (I don't know whether the size is the same). 6d for a black jack? edit. I also had 6d (2.5p) a week, but that went up to a shilling (5p) when I went to secondary school in (1955 2 ounces (56grams) Cadbury's Dairy Milk 6d (2.5p) Mars Bar 5d (2p), Milky Way was new at 3d (1.25p) and a sherbet dip was 2d (0.8p) and a quarter of a pound (114g) of coconut ice at Turner's in the High Street was 5d (2p). And yes, I am an old f**t!

They were 1d each (0.4p) and were really dangerous. I almost swallowed one and just managed to cough it up in time. Frightening. Never bought one again.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.
