Hello fellow investors,
I've developed some code that automates the process of downloading all Assetz Capital balance statements, on the first of each month, from a specified start date and for a given number of months. This can be an invaluable resource for those looking to compile and analyse the value of your holdings in each of AC’s products over time.
The tool generates a URL for each month's balance statement and simulates navigating to the URL which downloads the CSV file. You can adapt this functionality as needed, perhaps to fetch and download the CSV files directly for consolidation and analysis.
Here's a brief overview of how it works: - The script starts from a specified date (e.g. 1 May 2018).
- It then generates and visits the URL for the balance statement of the first of each subsequent month.
- The script introduces a 5-second delay between each "visit" to simulate navigation and prevent overwhelming the server.
To perform your analysis, you can then merge the CSV files for each month. This method provides a systematic approach to tracking and analysing your investments over time.
Instructions for Running the Code (Tested in Firefox v122.0): - Open a browser and log in to the Assetz Capital Investors portal.
- In the investor portal, navigate to Statements -> Account Balances.
- Open a debug console:
◦ For Firefox: Press Ctrl+Shift+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+K (Mac). - Copy and paste the code from the GitHub Gist link provided above into the console.
- Press enter. You will see the required CSV files being downloaded.
This script is a starting point, and I encourage collaboration and improvements. Please feel free to share example spreadsheets that are used for analysis!
Remember, this tool is meant to facilitate the downloading of your own balance statements for personal analysis. Please use it responsibly and in accordance with Assetz Capital's terms of service :-)
Happy investing!

I fully expect the next quarterly update from AC to include a lament that the strain on their now slimmed-down web servers has unexpectedly become too much, and are now updating the terms and conditions to impose a charge per-access to the website to cover this. For protection of the platform ...
