You may be right oldgrumpy about the identity of the miscreant but elsewhere it says he was a director of the company and the company bears his name. I am with you all the way concerning FC's statements about credit worthiness. Perhaps they will change the wording as regulation day draws near.

From FC's post in another place I understood that the very naughty boy, whose name is in the company name, was neither the person who applied for the loan on behalf of the company nor a director of the company at that time. Presumably he was not a guarantor either. Since FC say they are altering their procedures as a result, they are presumably unhappy with the fact that this loan was approved, though of course that does not imply that they admit negligence. How long before he sets up a new company called 'Where there's Brass there's Muck'.
OG - a healthy Experian credit report is not a definitive statement - What does FC consider healthy?

[mod hat on] All, a reminder that the rules on the forum are that you will not post links that will identify borrowers. Following warnings, oldgrumpy has now been banned.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for Old Grumpy. I am not sure that this forum can afford to lose OG. And one of my posts has been deleted without a word - so perhaps I am next.
I hope that OG has been released into the wild of the rain forest, and not kept captive. I would send him some bananas if I knew where.

Surely there must be extenuating circumstances that warrant a reprieve. Or perhaps a lesser sentence of no banana for a day or two?

Normally I’m old fashioned and would be the first to say that you have to accept rules and laws however stupid they may be. However, in my opinion there are mitigating circumstances in this case. I’m fortunate and don’t hold the “crappy scrappy” but I do hold the crooked lawyer and the air con man aka breath of stale air (who I see has made a payment) all three of which look damned close to being fraudulent and suffer from a lack of due diligence and duty of care by the lending platform.
In view of this I can fully understand OG’s anger and frustration and whilst the rules are clear I believe that banning him would be a loss to the forum and therefore ask that he be reinstated with a written warning and sanctions on bananas for a month.

Seconded. There aren't enough useful contributors here to go canning them .. give him a final warning or summat. He may not have realised the URL ID'd the borrower.

The URL was posted with specific statement saying that it identified the borrower, both company and name of person. Even so I tend to agree with the other contributors who have asked for OGs re-instatement. Maybe banned for a week but permanent ban seems excessive. We all get overcome occasionally - after all it is our money that some people (FC?) are playing fast and loose with. Note: I am not accusing FC of playing fast and loose with my or anyone else's hard earned moolah - just in case they were thinking of introducing some lawyers to the situation. However I do think that there have been enough loans to 'questionable' businesses for some of us to get worried/annoyed/irate about. Occasionally us oldies just like to let it all hang loose and tell it like it is. Can't blame an Old Grumpy for that.

To be clear: my post was purely to provide information on the point of whether the reference was knowingly done or not (since the post is no longer visible on the forum). I should have cut down my 'quotation' of GSV so that was clearer (will edit).

It would make defending legal action against the forum and its operators no easier by claiming that we tolerated the abuse of privacy because the offending contributor was held in high regard or that we felt sorry for him because he had lost money. Why can't the lenders who are at risk of losing money content themselves with posts that stay within the boundaries set by admin staff? Blowing off steam is one thing, but finishing off the forum is surely not in anyones interests is it?

Agreed, it’s not in anyone’s interest but I bet that OG and myself are not the only investors who are, pardon my French, p*ssed off with FC’s incompetence in several areas not least their due diligence that allows crooks to rip off lenders.

Plus, in this instance, posts IDing the loan company have been, and AFAIK still are, up on the FC boards, so who is going to do what to this forum for breaking a rule they are already flouting themselve?. FC is probably p.ssed off too! If there have been complaints from e*** m**** re******** or FC then action would be required, in the absence of same, let's not get too excited.
Or are the mods here guarantors for legal costs?? grin.
