So BJ forgot his ID and was prevented from voting . Hilarious. I see some veteran soldiers have been turned away for bringing along the 'wrong kind of ID'. The national veterans ID card not being on the list of acceptable ID. Apparently the govt. have made a committment to include it on the list for the next election. Oh, why don't we have a National ID card scheme ? then we wouldn't need a fallible/incomplete list of 20+ and growing acceptable forms of ID. Radical I know. I mean its not been tried anywhere else in the world so is a little bit risque.

Its not exactly going to endear the government to the thwarted many, who will come back with their verdict and correct ID at the GE.

I see that the fiasco that is the new Co-Op Live arena in Manchester continues unabated, with managemnet continuing to insist that completion is imminent (remind anyone of student accommodation in Plymouth?).
What made me laugh the most is that the Naming rights partner Co-op Group (who allegedly paid £100m to have their name attached to the new venue) has flagged a "critical" risk of reputational damage to the wider Co-op brand - not certain why they are complaining because they're not exactly Fortnum and Mason.

Surely students are the ones who have ID, they need it to get into clubs etc. The older folk may not have it.

How many older folk do you know without *either* a driving licence *or* a bus pass? www.electoralcommission.org.uk/voting-and-elections/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-idStudent ID is not acceptable.

Not sure how many students voter without correct ID. I have seen young people who want to prove their age “online” for whatever reason tend to have provisional driving licence stuck on the back on their phones on their online photos.
I can’t see why older people don’t have bus passes nor driving licenses can’t vote with other acceptable ID by electoral commission.

I don't think student ID is commonly acceptable in clubs or for alcohol either, too many fraudulent ones around. Mostly students/young people have 'proper' ID for clubs etc.

actually I'd imagine a few. They may be entitled to a bus pass but not have one. My parents never had: they were in the middle of the country and would have had to travel probably 3 miles to get to the nearest bus stop that might have a service a couple of times a day. Many of course also give up driving (eventually), and so their DLs expire. Or they are forced to give up on medical grounds. I'd agree thought that the intersection of those without a passport, driving license, bus pass will be very small. And with any sense they would go down the postal voting route. I can't claim to have any inside track on what ID students regularly carry. But I understood there are (or used to be) separate supermarket/pub age ID system they could get cards from ? (Of course a National ID card would cover that.....). But I do know that an increasing number of young people, especially in cities, are not bothering to learn to drive now.

Always makes me laugh when I watch Only Fools And Horses. Del buys 2 pints at the bar and says 'put the change in the poor box'.
Those were the days
